Behavioral Problems and Basic Obedience Training

Dog Training in South Jersey

The first step towards having a well-trained dog or solving behavioral problems you may be experiencing with your dog is to schedule a free evaluation. The second step is to begin a basic obedience dog training program that is designed to reinforce correct behavior.

Our initial evaluation will enable our experienced staff to capture all relevant information about your dog and home environment to help us make an accurate assessment. A basic obedience plan will be designed to help your dog begin the process towards good behavior.

Great pleasure will be derived knowing you have a well-behaved dog in all surroundings. It will become a joy to walk your dog or participate in other outdoor activities knowing they will not run off after something or jump on a stranger.

Basic Obedience Program

We recommend Basic Obedience class to develop a solid foundational structure and to overcome behavioral conflicts for dogs of any age.

Basic Obedience training focuses on teaching basic commands in a structured format through positive reinforcement. Our philosophy is not to correct a bad habit but to reinforce good behavior. Our training methods develop strong and healthy social bonds between dog owner and dog by having your dog master the following basic commands step by step:

  • Sit
  • Down
  • Heel
  • Go to place

After mastering the basics, more advanced commands are introduced:

  • Walking control
  • Heel work
  • Distance control
  • Off leash control (handler has no physical contact)

We encourage family to join the class to watch and learn so that everyone is on the same page when it comes to properly working with your dog.

Basic Obedience Program Options and Classes

Select from one of the following:

Group Training
Our Group class is very popular, social and fun. Your dog will meet new friends in a safe, clean environment. Our special method of training will bring owner and dog to a common level of understanding to master basic commands.

There is plenty of socialization and distractions present in a group setting, ensuring your dog's accelerated development of attention and focus skills.

We offer 9 group classes weekly.

Private Lessons
This one-on-one program provides a more intimate way of learning how your dog thinks to best obtain the social performance you desire on a schedule that is convenient for you. The one-hour lesson allows our top trainers to serve you in a more focused and personalized way to discuss, address and resolve every issue.

Our trainers will educate and guide the owner and dog through all obedience exercises until the owner's desired level of performance is obtained.

Puppy School
Maximum 10 Puppies Per Group Class
Puppies are learning every single day. We integrate training methods that allow owners to be the focus of their puppy's interests and direction early in the learning cycle before bad habits like biting, chewing and jumping are imprinted. Our Puppy program runs 8 consecutive weeks and is optimal for puppies 8 to 20 weeks of age.

Owners will learn:

  • The ABC's of a puppy's behavior, physical needs, natural drives and social order
  • Four basic commands
  • How to puppy proof your home
  • Appropriate housebreaking techniques
  • Grooming and nail trimming
  • Health and nutrition
  • Basic first aid, CPR and choking
  • AKC STAR Puppy Certification for all graduates
Board and Train
We offer an intensive 2-week Board and Train obedience program that is ideal for owners with very busy schedules or time limitations, but who still want to enjoy the benefits of a well-trained dog. The training can be planned around a business trip or vacation to minimize the impact.

Your dog will stay at a 24 x 7 veterinarian supervised facility and receive full immersion Obedience Training to master all the basic commands. After your dog has been trained, the owner will receive private lessons on handling and learning the new obedience commands.
